About the Press
The PCU Press, the Publishing House for the Pasifika Communities University (PCU), formerly known as the Pacific Theological College (PTC), aims to provide from Pasifika philosophical and theological perspectives analysis and articulation of issues that matter. Established and officially launched in 2022 under the vision of its then Principal, Rev Professor Dr. Upolu Lumā Vaai, the PCU Press was born to publish and disseminate commercial and educational literature that enhance and promote the ‘whole of life’ vision of PCU.
The Press not only serves as a reservoir of Pasifika knowledge to assist with a new Pasifika educational awareness, but also serves as a centre of excellence that publishes and disseminates a unique ‘whole of life’ knowledge that is normally sidelined or downgraded by non-Pasifika mainstream publishers. A press that is owned and driven by Pasifika people founded on Pasifika terms. The Press continues the Pasifika centred and communities-based focus of the University grounded in its ‘whole of life’ vision, especially its focus on critical analysis of colonial and neocolonial systems and structures that continue to shape Pasifika societies, rethinking education, theologies, development, and public policies that influence the everyday lives of Pasifika peoples.
